Complete Fossil of a Young Tarbosaurus Discovered
Published:
The Hayashibara Museum of Natural Sciences in Okayama Prefecture announced that it has discovered a complete skeleton fossil of a large carnivorous dinosaur, Tarbosaurus, about 5 years old, from the Late Cretaceous strata of the western Gobi Desert in Mongolia.
It is rare to find a complete fossil of a young dinosaur because their bones are fragile and they are often eaten by other dinosaurs after death.

This discovery will provide clues to understanding the growth process of large theropods. Tarbosaurus is considered a close relative of Tyrannosaurus and grew to a maximum length of 12 meters.
