Spinosaurus Was Adapted for Aquatic Life

A research team from the University of Chicago and other institutions has announced findings that Spinosaurus, known for the sail on its back, was adapted for an aquatic lifestyle.
By digitizing fossil specimens and examining the skeletal structure, they explained that the species, which originally lived on land, adapted to life in the water.

It was already known that Spinosaurus was piscivorous, based on its crocodile-like snout tip and tooth shape.
This new research revealed that its nostrils were positioned further back, making it well-suited for breathing while its snout was in the water.

The research team concluded, "Spinosaurus spent more time in the water than on land."
