Did Large Carnivorous Dinosaurs Also Hunt in Packs? In Argentina

2006-04-30

Fossils of one of the largest carnivorous dinosaurs, comparable to Tyrannosaurus and Giganotosaurus, have been excavated from a 100-million-year-old (Cretaceous) stratum in central Argentina.
At least seven individuals were found together. Adults are estimated to be over 12.5 meters long, and a juvenile at 5.5 meters.

It has generally been thought that "large carnivorous dinosaurs lived and hunted alone."
What makes this discovery valuable is that it suggests the possibility that "large carnivorous dinosaurs also formed packs and hunted in groups (similar to small carnivorous dinosaurs like Deinonychus)."
